Gears of War screenwriter wants The Rock for Marcus Fenix

Do you smell what Marcus Fenix is cookin!? Chris Morgan recently wrapped up his script for the Gears of War movie, and it’s right around now that the folks behind the production of the film need to start thinking about a cast, with Marcus Fenix obviously being the most important character. Actors such as Sean Penn, Mickey Rourke, and Bruce Willis would do well in the role,or even Chuck Norris according to people on forums around the net. 
Morgan actually likes Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, he told MTV.
Morgan applauds The Rock’s depth, saying he can “play the tough guy, but he can also play the nuanced, sensitive funny sad moments as well.” He would need that depth, too, because if there’s anything that must make it into the film, it’s the game’s deep, emotional storyline and characters.

Honestly, I don’t like the Rock as an actor. It would really make me raeg if he was chosen as Marcus and kill the entire movie.

I have mixed feelins on the rock.. I liked him a few of his movies.. then in some of them i didnt like too much.. when i used to watch him on wwe he was badass.. I honestly think if he really gets into the marcus charactor it could work.. Hes a big dude so thats a start towards being a good marcus lol..

The only movies I really ever saw him in was The Scorpion King, The Mummy, DOOM, and Armageddon. Only movie I liked out of all of those was Armageddon, but even still I didn’t like his acting much. It’s too much like… acting? Not a very believable performance.
The writer is wanting to make this “real” as if you looked outside right now and the Locusts emerged. A gritty, realistic approach. It just makes me nervous because I don’t know if the Rock can dish that kind of realism.

I never seen DOOM.. but i thought he was too bad in “Walking Tall” and some other movie(the title escapes me at the moment)idk really i guess well have to wait and see.. either way ill still be going to watch it on opening night!

Yeah, I think regardless I’ll watch it! And yeah… him in Walking Tall is why I didn’t go see it lol
But as you said, we’ll see! I hope they do a really good choice. I also wish they had Frank Miller directing it. I think the gritty feel of 300 would have worked really well.

Did a bit of research and apparently, the director they are wanting to get (Len Wiseman) did Live Free or Die Hard and Underworld. I thought Underworld was interesting and had potential. So, I am hoping for the best!

Honestly, I think The Rock is a pretty good actor. Gridiron Gang, The Scorpion King, Walking Tall, & The Rundown all badass movies and some of my favorites. I think The Rock could definitely pull the part off because he has the ability to be a badass as well as a passionate actor. If you haven’t seen Walking Tall, go watch it! Anyone who can whip someone’s ass with a 4ft piece of timber only is ok in my book. The fight scenes in The Rundown were great too. The only possible downer could be his voice but I don’t think anyone will be able to match the Marcus Fenix voice. I would rather hear someone’s normal voice than something like Batman in The Dark Knight…the stupid weird zombie voice got annoying quick.
